Food You Should Not Feed Your Dog



Alcohol - giving your dog any kind of alcoholic beverage can result in the dog becoming intoxicated, vomiting, coma and death.

Baby Food - when fed in large amounts or as a dogs only food, baby food can cause nutritional deficiencies in your dog.

Chocolate - coffee, tea, chocolate and anything else that contains caffeine can be toxic to your dog causing the heart rate to increase and can even cause seizures, affecting the heart and nervous systems.

Grapes & Raisins - can cause kidney damage in dogs.

Macadamia Nuts - can effect a dogs muscles, cause soreness and stiffness, dog may appear weak and listless. Effects a dogs nervous and digestive systems.


Onions - contains a toxin which causes a dogs red blood cells to burst causing the dog to become anemic.


Yeast Dough - can expand in the dogs stomach causing an obstruction and may even cause a rupture.


This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of unhealthy foods for dogs. There are many other substances, that when ingested can cause a dog harm. One important reminder, don't feed your dog old moldy food that has been in your fridge for weeks, or garbage. These foods contain bacteria and fungi that can be harmful to your dog. If you would not eat it, do not give it to your pet. That being said, these are foods we eat every day that can make a dog sick so it is important to be aware of these common foods.
